The Alaska Cruise Experience
An Alaska Cruise Vacation can be experienced on three basic 7 day cruise itineraries. However within these three itineraries are a large number of variations depending upon the Alaska Cruise experience that you want to make part of your own.
- The Inside Passage cruise is a roundtrip Alaska Cruise from either Vancouver or Seattle. This itinerary will give you a variety of the "Gold Rush Ports" among others. Some of these cruises will include 'Glacier Bay National Park ' while others will not. The advantage of this itinerary is that you fly in and out of the same port which tends to make the cruise somewhat less expensive. In this category are also some longer 11 day roundtrip cruises from San Francisco.
- The North or South bound Alaska Cruise is a one-way cruise originating in Vancouver(Seattle) or Seward(Whittier) respectively. You travel further into Alaska and therefore have the opportunity to experience more of the northern ports as well as towns such as Anchorage. For this cruise of course you fly into one port and return from another increasing the price somewhat.
- The Alaska Cruise Tour is a combination of the one-way cruise and an Alaska Land Vacation and therefore is 9 days or longer in duration. If your desire is to experience as much of Alaska as possible then this is the Alaska vacation for you. Denali National Park, Fairbanks, the Arctic Circle can all be part of your experience. Fishing, white-water-rafting, horse back riding, mountain biking are some of the optional activities. You explore all of this in the comfort of domed rail cars, luxury coaches and beautiful lodges. This Alaska cruise vacation offers you the greatest opportunity for wildlife watching and the wilderness that is truly Alaska.
